Fluke FTPL-1 Description
The Fluke FTPL-1 SureGrip Fused Probes provide added measurement protection. A special feature of these probes is that they will still indicate live voltages even with a blown inline fuse. These voltages will only be approximate but this extra level of protection helps prevent accidents by showing live voltage conditions. The integrity of the built-in fuse within the Fluke FTPL-1 SureGrip Fused Probes should be checked by checking the continuity of the leads and probes before and after each test measurement, do not use if they show high resistance this is an indication that the fuse has blown. When I fuse has blown there is a 1 megohm parallel resistor that will allow the DMM to take a measurement, However the input impedance of the DMM will have a significant effect on the reading error. The fuses fitted are special 1000V, 11A fuse with a 20kA interrupt rating and if blown must be replaced with a new fuse of the same type. (Use only Fluke Fuse Part Number 803293)
The Fluke FTPL-1
SureGrip Fused Probes CAT III 1000 V, CAT IV 600 V, 11A Rating when fitted with test screw on protective probe caps. They comply with CAT II 1000 V when these protective caps are removed.
