Aranet Soil VWC,EC and T Sensor
Aranet
Wireless Sensor for Monitoring Moisture & Mineral Content of Soil or other Soil-less Media

With the Aranet VWC, EC and T Sensor we pick up on a three important conditions that need to be monitored to help maximize crop growth. They are the measurement of ‘Volumetric Water Content’ this measurements is essential for assessing the status of available water in the soil or soil-less media. At the same time we also measure Electrical conductivity (EC) this shows the conductivity for the salts that are dissolved in the irrigation water with fertilizer provided for the plants. The EC is a measurement of the total amount of fertilizer salts in the solution. It does not provide specific information about each individual element or that individual element’s concentration in solution. Optimal EC levels in the soil are dependent on the crop being grown and will normally fall between 1.0…6.0 milliSiemens per centimeter (mS/cm). Too low EC levels indicate low available nutrients, and too high EC levels indicate an excess of nutrients and both will limit plant growth. The final measurement taken by this single probe sensor is temperature. All of these measurements are taken within the root zone of the growth media.

What we like: The fact that this sensor gives us three important growth measurement right from the root zone where it really matters.
